Your Service Coordinator will meet with you, your child, and the evaluator in your home to complete the Multidisciplinary Evaluation (MDE). The evaluator will use one or more standardized evaluation tools during the evaluation. The evaluation will look at all areas of your child’s development. You and members of the team will talk about the good things your child is doing as well as identify the concerns. The evaluation will be scored and the results will be discussed with you at the end of the assessment.

In Pennsylvania, a child must meet one of the following three criteria to be determined eligible to receive Early Intervention services:
  • Children who have a 25% delay or who score 1.5 standard deviations below the mean in one or more areas of development.
  • Have a diagnosis or condition that has a high probability of leading to a developmental delay.
  • Have a determination from specialists that there is a delay even though it is not reflected on a formal assessment. (Informed Clinical Opinion)
