Once we receive a referral, it is our goal to ensure that your child has received a Multidisciplinary Developmental Evaluation (MDE) and that an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) has been developed, if necessary, within 45 days of referral.

First, a Service Coordinator will be assigned to your family. The Service Coordinator will call you to schedule an “intake” meeting at your home or location of your choosing. At this important meeting, the Service Coordinator will gather information about your child’s health, routines, strengths, and developmental concerns. She will also provide a more through description of the Early Intervention program, and explain all of your parental rights and procedural safeguards as they pertain to Early Intervention.

Next, the Service Coordinator will collaborate with you and the other professionals who administer the evaluations to schedule the MDE. Depending on the concerns you have for your child, your evaluator may be a Special Instructor (specializing in overall child development), Speech Language Pathologist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or a combination. When scheduling your evaluation, try to avoid times when your child would normally be napping or eating!
